Does the data update by itself or do I need to refresh it?

Second week in. The first import ran fine and the numbers have been changing since, so I
assume it updates on its own.

Just want to confirm there is nothing I am supposed to be doing, and roughly how current the
numbers are when I look in the morning.

Nothing for you to do. It updates through the day on its own, so what you see in the
morning includes yesterday in full and today up to the last update.

Two things worth knowing, both about today rather than about us:

Today's numbers are always partial and will keep moving until the day is over. That is
Google's data, not our timing.

Conversions keep being added to days that have already finished, because they're credited
to the day of the click rather than the day they happened. So a number you noted on Monday
can legitimately be higher on Friday.

If you ever want the latest immediately rather than waiting for the next update, there's a
manual refresh - but on a normal day you will not need it.
