Let me leave a note on a campaign saying why we changed something

Every year I look at a chart, see something odd in April, and spend twenty minutes working out what we did. Usually it was deliberate and usually it was me! What I would like is to attach a note to a campaign, or ideally to a date, saying what changed and why. "Raised target CPA for peak", "landing page changed", "competitor started bidding on our brand". Then next year the explanation is sitting next to the dip instead of in my memory. Google's change history tells me what changed but never why, and the why is the part that is actually hard to reconstruct.

Notes shipped today and they do what this thread asked for. You can attach a note at the levels you would expect and they show up alongside the thing they describe, so the explanation sits next to the dip rather than in your memory or in somebody's leaving email. On Marta's point: notes are visible across the workspace by default, because handover was the strongest argument in the thread. There is a preference if you want yours private, but the default is shared for exactly the reason she gives. Thank you both. This was a small feature with an unusually clear brief, which is a compliment to the request rather than to us.

Would use this constantly. The case I care most about is handover - when an account moves between people, all the reasoning lives in the head of whoever is leaving, and what the new person inherits is a chart with unexplained cliffs in it. Visible to the whole team rather than private would be the important part for us.

Spent an hour yesterday backfilling last year's oddities from memory while I still have it. Recommend everyone else do the same before they forget!
