Client deleted old campaigns in Google - is that history gone from our reports too?

Client did a cleanup and removed maybe 15 old campaigns from 2024. Nobody asked us. Question is simple. Those campaigns had spend and conversions last year. Is that history gone now, or do you keep it? I have year-on-year report due next week and I would like to know before I promise it.

Your history is intact. Write the report. We import every status - enabled, paused and removed - rather than only what is currently live, and this is exactly why. A removed campaign in Google Ads is still a campaign that spent money last year, and an account's history should not change because somebody tidied up in the interface. So the 2024 numbers for those campaigns are where they were, and your year-on-year comparison will include them. What does change: they will not accumulate anything new, and they are marked as removed so you can tell them apart from the ones still running. If your report groups by campaign you will see them in last year's column with nothing in this year's, which is the correct picture rather than a gap. Worth mentioning to the client that removing campaigns in Google Ads doesn't free anything up or improve anything. It only costs them the ability to look at their own past in the Google interface. Pausing does the same job and keeps the history visible on both sides.

Very good. I will tell them to pause next time, not remove.
