What does the first import actually pull, and how far back does it go?

Setting this up for our account today and I would like to know what to expect before I start rather than after. Two questions. How much history comes in on the first import, and does it bring paused and removed things or only what is currently running? Asking because we restructured in spring and a lot of last year's keywords are paused now. If those are dropped then any year-on-year comparison I try will be wrong and I would rather know that up front.

Good question to ask first, and the answer is the one you want. The first import pulls a full year of history, and it brings everything regardless of status - enabled, paused and removed. That's deliberate. If we only imported what is currently running, every account that had ever been restructured would show a hole where its history should be, and your spring restructure is exactly that case. So your paused keywords come in with their spend and conversions attached, and a year-on-year comparison will include them. One thing to expect: because it brings everything, the first import on a long-running account takes a while. It's doing a year of daily numbers for every keyword, not just the live ones. Leave it running.
