Sensible instinct, and the honest answer starts with what it cannot do. It works from the same rules you would apply yourself - the wasted spend detectors and the automation rules - and it acts on what they find on a schedule instead of waiting for you to open the page on a Friday. It does not invent strategy, it does not change your budgets or your bidding targets, and it does not decide anything the rules don't already describe. The catch, stated plainly: it acts without asking. That's the entire feature. If a rule is wrong, it will be wrong on a schedule rather than once. What I would tell someone in your position specifically. You are the case it helps most, because the alternative is not careful manual review - it's Fridays if at all, and the terms you never got to are costing you money right now. But start with the safest thing: turn it on for search term negatives, which are reversible and where the rules are well-tested, and leave keyword pausing manual until you have watched it for a month. Check what it did rather than trusting it. Every action is logged with what changed and what it was before, so a month of history tells you whether you agree with its judgement before you widen its remit. If you look at that log after a month and disagree with nothing, widen it. If you disagree with something, that is a rule to fix rather than a reason to switch it all off.

Would add one thing to that, in the spirit of being the person who always says this... Whatever you automate, you stop looking at. That's the real cost and it is not in the feature description. The negatives will get added and you'll stop reading the search terms at all, and reading the search terms is how you learn what your customers actually want. Automate the tedium, keep looking at the data. Different things.

negatives only for now then. fair point about still looking, thats mostly how i find out what people are actually searching for
